Marvel at graceful manta rays feeding in Dhigurah Lagoon, also we have several nearby cleaning stations that are a haven for these majestic creatures.
In addition, the marine protected area is home to magnificent whale sharks, offering an exceptional experience for every underwater adventurer. We also have stunning macro life, as well as a large variety of reef sharks and turtles.
Whale Shark, Manta Rays & Sharks
Meet the whale shark (Rhincodon typus) – the largest fish species on Earth. This majestic, slow moving, filter feeding carpet shark roams the tropical waters worldwide, offering unforgettable encounters for divers and snorkelers alike. In the Maldives, whale sharks are safeguarded under Act No. 93/4 of the Environment Protection and Preservation Act, ensuring their protection and conservation for future generations.
Discover the awe inspiring Reef Manta Ray (Mobula alfredi), one of the largest and most iconic marine species. These majestic creatures grace the shallow coastal reefs of continents and oceanic islands, making them a frequent and unforgettable encounter for both divers and snorkelers. Widely distributed across the tropical and subtropical regions of the Indian and West Pacific Oceans, reef manta rays play a vital role in marine ecosystems as they feed on zooplankton.

Our marine biologist brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to every session. You’ll discover the graceful feeding behaviours of manta rays, learn about the gentle giants of the ocean…whale sharks and explore the dynamic world of reef sharks, including species like white tip, grey reef, and nurse sharks. These talks are designed to provide you with a deeper understanding of the behaviours, ecosystems, and conservation challenges faced by these magnificent creatures as well as the code of conduct when encountering whale sharks or mantas.
