Dhigurah Island community
Since the early days of BB we felt truly part of the Dhigurah community. We have always supported the Health Centre, Mosque and School and any sporting activities we can get involved with. From presenting prizes as school end of term to sponsoring volleyball and football tournaments we always felt part of our community. One of our German guests even knits scuba divers and whale sharks for sale in support of the health centre…raising over $1500 so far!
We support local food producers and local skilled workmen such as electricians and fishermen. Our 55’ Dive boat, Manta Mobula was built on Dhigurah and we are very happy to pay monthly payments for this and our land rents to give financial security to many families from this island.
We work with Council projects such as beach cleaning and festivals such as New Year where all hotels come together for fireworks and local food events.
We are now discussing funding medical equipment for our health centre so we can make it easier for local people to get simple tests done here rather than having to send samples to Male which can involve quite a delay.
For own staff we recently launched a educational bursary for BB staff children to improve their future lives and make life easier for our staff parents.
