Health Centre & Pharmacy
Caring for Our Community – Dhigurah Health Centre is an essential part of our island community, always ready to help with both minor concerns and more serious medical needs.
Whether it’s to see the doctor or receive care from the dedicated nursing team, the health centre is open every evening and welcomes walk-in consultations…no appointment needed. If a visit is necessary during your stay, we’re happy to help you get there.
We are now discussing funding medical equipment for our health centre so we can make it easier for local people to get simple tests done here rather than having to send samples to Male which can involve quite a delay.
We deeply value and support the incredible work they do and proudly contribute in any way we can. One of our generous German guests Ingrid even hand knits adorable scuba divers and whale sharks to sell in support of the centre—raising over $1,500 so far!
Dhigurah School
Education on Dhigurah. Around 100 children attend the local school on Dhigurah, ranging from pre-school to Grade 10. Following the British school system, students begin learning English from the very start and can remain on the island to complete their studies up to O-Level.
The school day begins early in the morning, with a midday break so children can return home for lunch. Classes resume in the afternoon, and older students also attend evening lessons, ensuring a well-rounded and continuous learning experience.
Sports Activities
Supporting Local Sports and Community Spirit The islanders of Dhigurah are passionate about sports, with both men and women playing daily. Regular tournaments bring the community together in celebration of teamwork and talent. Boutique Beach is proud to support this vibrant local culture by sponsoring teams for island and inter atoll competitions.
From vibrant team jerseys to tournament support, we’re always ready to stand behind our local athletes. Whether it’s on the field or in the water, community spirit is at the heart of everything we do at Boutique Beach.
Dhigurah Island Community
Since the early days of BB we felt truly part of the Dhigurah community. We have always supported the Health Centre, Mosque and School and any sporting activities we can get involved with. From presenting prizes as school end of term to sponsoring volleyball and football tournaments we always felt part of our community.
We support local food producers and local skilled workmen such as electricians and fishermen. Our 55’ Dive boat, Manta Mobula was built on Dhigurah and we are very happy to pay monthly payments for this and our land rents to give financial security to many families from this island.
We work with Council projects such as beach cleaning and festivals such as New Year where all hotels come together for fireworks and local food events.
